Tips for good dental hygiene

When it comes to having great hygiene, it is extremely important, as it makes up a huge part of who we are, as individuals. Hygiene is not just something we see, it's something we feel and experience, as a result. When we have great hygiene, we feel great. When we have wonderful hygiene, we feel wonderful. Dental or oral hygiene is important because it is a huge contribution to our individual hygiene. As a oral health fanatic, here are some great tips to having great dental hygiene:

1 - THE "BRUSH, FLOSS, RINSE" REGIME: Do more than just brushing your teeth. Follow a plan that you can stick to that will benefit you, as a result. When you brush your teeth, ask yourself do you also floss your teeth, as well as, rinse your teeth? It's important to follow the best the "Brush, Floss, Rinse" regime. Brush your teeth, floss your teeth, and rinse your teeth everyday.

2 - THREE TIMES DAILY: It is extremely important to brush your teeth at least three times daily. It's best to brush your teeth balanced out. To do this, it is best to brush in between or after meals. If you can follow the "Brush, Floss, Rinse" regime, that would be great, as well, although that isn't recommended.

3 - WATER: People say drink eight glasses of water to maintain individual refreshment and moisture content. It's healthy to drink water and it is the only thing in the world, you can't ever have too much of (besides money *kidding*). Water is very easy on the teeth, as opposed to soft drinks, tea, wine, beer, liqueur, and coffee. Some water companies that distribute their products in grocery stores also offer water with fluoride in it, to give it extreme health benefits.

4 - DENTIST: Whether for a checkup or teeth cleaning (or both) it is important to visit the dentist. A professional opinion may be as good as your own or better. One thing you will notice, most individuals who visit a dentist daily have great oral and dental hygiene.

5 - SUGAR FREE: Foods that possess no or low sugar contents are always good. Gum works a great sealant (kind of like a baby chewing on a toy or a dog chewing on a bone, the toy and the bone are the sealants) It is best to chew a piece of sugar free gum because not only does the gum chewing action itself make your jaw stronger, as well as, teeth, but the sugar free gum will provide a flavorful taste that is healthy for your teeth, as a result.

6 - QUALITY PRODUCTS: If a product is more expensive, it usually means that it is quality in comparison to something that is cheaper or lesser value, because it's more expensive to market and product. Some people say the cheaper stuff is as good as the expensive stuff, but don't let that fool you. A good quality toothbrush, as well as, toothpaste, floss, and rinse will go along way and make an amazing different. I've tried everything from store brand and generic to quality brand and there is a difference. Use products that are high quality and if it means spending a little more money to do so, do it because it will show as a result.

7 - THE "BAKING SODA AND PEROXIDE MIXTURE": If you take baking soda and add enough hydrogen peroxide to create a paste-like substance, you are destined to put it on your teeth. If you leave it on for a few minutes, it has been proved to be healthy for your teeth. Not just as a fighting guard to erasing plaque, but it is great whitening, which is linked to good hygiene. It works as a good holistic fluoride home remedy.

8 - VITAMINS: Take vitamins daily. For the best results, take multi-vitamins. Calcium is extremely important for enamel, as well as, overall strength. Other vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E help, as well. Eat foods that are on a healthy wavelength such as fruits and vegetables.

9 - VASELINE: When you are done brushing, flossing, and rinsing take some Vaseline on a cue tip and spread the Vaseline on your teeth. This will not only prevent dryness, but provide a great medium that is linked to great dental and oral hygiene. Some models and women that are in beauty pageants tend to use Vaseline on their teeth on a daily basis.

10 - DO NOT OVER BRUSH: Some dentists say it's a myth to over brush and that some people can't ever brush enough. That is completely 100% false. You can over brush your teeth and as a result, it can lead to the wearing away of enamel, as well as, permanent nerve damage. It's best to never over brush.

Good Luck!

Product reviews: Redken Color Extend Color Veil

Some people believe that hair contributes to over 40% of our looks. In fact, there have been studies proved to acknowledge such a theory. One thing is certain, I think there is no better feeling than beautiful hair. When our hair is beautiful, we feel beautiful. The level of importance speaks for itself. One day, I decided I wanted to get my hair highlighted. The place that I had originally wanted to go to was closed, so I attempted to look elsewhere. I saw a sign that said "we accept walk-in appointments" so I proceeded to enter. I was strictly determined to get my hair done, so I didn't beat around the bush and of course, due to luck, she had an appointment available. After she had highlighted my hair, she proceeded to add a few products to it. I was so impressed with the result, I was in awe. She informed me that what she used on my hair was Redken Color Extend Color Veil. What makes this product unique is, it's ability to promote shine. Redken Color Extend Color Veil is to hair as what lip stick is to lips. My hair not only felt truly healthy and soft, but was shiny as if I was on the set of a hair commercial promoting the product itself. I had no split ends nor fly aways, as well. This product truly vitalized my hair and promoted shine that I never knew existed. What made me truly fall in love with Redken Color Extend Color Veil was not just it's ability to promote dramatic shine, but the fact it have my hair character to which made my hair look like a billion bucks. I have to admit Redken Color Extend Color Veil managed to benefit my hair, despite anything that attempted to effect it such as the wind. In fact, I didn't reapply this product to my at hair all, until I washed it the next time.

I haven't had any luck finding reviews on the internet, let alone had any luck in finding individual opinions about Redken Color Extend Color Veil, hence why I was so determined to create a review. In comparison to most color extend based products that I have tried or have owned previously, it is truly above average. This product is so elite, that I recommend this highly to anyone who colors their hair daily or recently colored their hair.

This product isn't something I recommend to anyone who is looking for a hair product under $6. I also do not recommend Redken Color Extend Color Veil to those who are con towards only 1 oz of product for $3 or 3.5 oz of product for $6. If you feel your hair is important, as I do, I strongly believe you could love and benefit from this product. This product is unnecessary if you have natural hair that isn't color treated. If you are a risk taker and love trying new things, this product is right for you. This product is for anyone who appreciates a great, quality serum with a variety of benefits.

Redken Color Extend Color Veil can be purchased for around $3 for 1 oz or $6 for 3.5 oz at your local salon or on the official Redken website.

Overall, I was impressed with Redken Color Extend Color Veil on quite a few wavelengths. Would I use it again? Most definitely. In fact, I used it earlier today.

Product Reviews: MAC Chromeglass

A friend of mine is a huge lip gloss fanatic. In fact, she's probably just as bad, as I am, in terms of lip gloss obsession. One day, she visited me and I could not help, but notice how amazing her lips looked. We developed into an instant conversation about lip gloss and she proceeded to inform me that she was wearing MAC Chromeglass in "Chromaliving". As someone who loves MAC and uses their brand of makeup often, I have never tried the Chromeglass. I was strictly determined to try MAC Chromeglass and check out the colors and purchase some for myself. Overall, I am very impressed with MAC Chromeglass. In fact, I think it is just as good as Lipglass. Although it's similar to lipglass, it is very different. The effect is very dramatic, yet soft for as lightweight as the gloss is. What makes this product unique is, it's like a combination of lip gloss and lip stick combined together, but more natural than both and just as visible as both. The lip color is on a lip gloss and lip stick wavelength, hence it's radical benefits. I love the fact that it isn't heavy, but extreme visible. My lips felt truly soft and moisturized, without feeling dried out or the need to re-apply every second of the day. What made me truly fall in love with MAC Chromeglass was not just it's "stay put" factor, but the fact it created an illusion that was dramatic, as a result. I have to admit MAC Chromeglass managed to stay on for quite a long. In fact, I didn't reapply this product to my lips for hours and it managed to stay put, as if I just applied it.

I haven't found any reviews on the internet, let alone had any luck in finding individual opinions about MAC Chromeglass, hence why I was so determined to create a review. In comparison to most lip glosses (or lip gloss/lip stick combinations) I own, it is truly above average. This product is not edible, hence why it doesn't possess a moderate flavor, but does possess a rather unique scent that isn't overpowering, but reminded me of a sweet vanilla candy, which was truly pleasant.

This product isn't something I recommend to anyone who is looking for a lip gloss under $10 nor is this recommended to those who are con towards the lip stick and lip gloss combination. I also don't recommend this product for anyone who doesn't like the look of chrome on your lips or isn't a lip gloss fan, in general. Although, if you aren't a true lip gloss fan, you may learn to appreciate MAC Chromeglass for it's extreme benefits and overall diversity. This product is for anyone who appreciates a great, quality gloss with a hint of color, that provides true benefits.

MAC Chromeglass comes in a variety of colors (nine different shades with the exception of promotions) and can be purchased for $16.50 at the official MAC Cosmetics website or your nearest MAC makeup store.

Overall, I was impressed with this MAC Chromeglass on quite a few wavelengths. Would I use it again? Most definitely and I already have.

Product reviews: MAC Lipglass

I first discovered MAC Lipglass earlier last year by a male friend who does makeup for a living. We had a conversation about lip gloss and he proceeded to inform me about MAC's lipglass and how wonderful the product is. He was 100% right. Overall, I am very impressed with MAC Lipglass. Based on what he told me, was enough to sway me, but of course I still wasn't convinced. It wasn't until I tried it, for me to be completely swayed into enjoying this product for what it is. The effect is very dramatic, for as lightweight as the gloss is. The lip color is more on a gloss wavelength, but isn't heavy for as visible as it is. My lips felt truly moisturized, without feeling sticky or the need to re-apply. What made me truly fall in love with MAC Lipglass was it's "stay put" factor, as it managed to stay on for quite a long. In fact, I didn't reapply this product to my lips for the entire day and it managed to stay.

I've read reviews about this product throughout the world wide web and have noticed no one has anything really bad to say about MAC Lipglass. Does MAC Lipglass have any weaknesses? I guess, if you are riding in a convertible or going for a jog in the wind and you apply lipglass before doing so, your hair may stick, but do you know of a lip gloss (in this case "lipglass") that doesn't do that? The good clearly exceeds any bad, but the problem is, I have trouble finding any bad at all in MAC Lipglass. In comparison to most lip glosses I own, it is above average. This product is not edible, hence why it doesn't possess a moderate flavor, but does possess rather unique scent that reminded me of a vanilla based cotton candy, which was truly pleasant.

This product isn't something I recommend to anyone who is looking for a lip gloss under $10 nor is this recommended to those who are pro towards the lip stick combination. I also don't recommend this product for anyone who doesn't like the look of glaze on your lips or isn't a lip gloss fan. Although, if you aren't a true lip gloss fan, you may learn to appreciate MAC Lipglass for it's unique originality and benefits. This product is for anyone who appreciates a great, quality gloss.

MAC Lipglass ranges in product from tinted to couture (which I own both of), as well as, price anywhere from $14 to $22, with the exception of the $13 clear lipglass gloss. You can purchase it from the official MAC Cosmetics website or your nearest MAC makeup store.

Overall, I was impressed with this product on quite a few wavelengths. Would I use it again? Most definitely and I already have.

Product reviews: Patricia Wexler MD Advanced No-injection lip plumper

I have naturally full lips, but was so curious about this product, I felt the need to try it.

Although I am skeptical about trying any kind of product of the sort, I decided to purchase the "Patricia Wexler M.D. Advanced No Injection Lip Plumper" in an attempt to try this, to see whether I am right or wrong. To my surprised, I must say that it works, but very minimally. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this product because even though it sort of plumps the lips, it's iridescent in color and gives your color a little effect, as a result. The effect is very minimal. The gloss is a bit thick and a bit sticky, but quite invisible, as it only provides a little bit of color. I found this product to be heavy on my lips and as a result, it allowed me to maintain individual moisture. Although, this product was far from the ultimate moisturizing product, expect to re-apply this product to your lips, daily, in order for this to actually take an effect to some degree and to maintain overall moisture.

When you first apply this product, you will feel numbness on your lips. In fact, tingles moderately in comparison to some of the other lip plumping products, I have tried. It occurs every time you apply, but does not last, until you apply again. The numbness varies upon individual, however; the numbers I felt was a bit moderate in comparison to the other lip plumping products I have tried. It's not painful or annoying, just a numbness that occurs naturally when using this particular lip plumping product.

Patricia Wexler M.D. Advanced No-Injection Lip Plumper was unscented, so it doesn't really possess any sort of smell nor taste. At least, a smell or flavor I noticed. This product isn't something I recommend to anyone with thin lips, hoping to gain fuller lips overnight nor is it recommended for someone hoping to achieve high expectations of a lip product. I also do not recommend this product for anyone hoping to achieve a major effect. This product creates a minimal effect and minor illusion, which is recommended to those who would like something extra that goes beyond the regular lip gloss quo, but nothing extreme, with a hint of iridescent on the side.

There are two ways of purchasing this product. You can purchase either the product itself, which is a clear liquid or you can purchase it in lip gloss form. They both work equally, except the gloss has a hint of color. I purchased both to know that this is true. Patricia Wexler M.D. Advanced No-Injection Lip Plumper sells retail for around $20 and you can purchase it at the nearest Bath & Body Works store.

Overall, I was impressed with the product. Would I use it again? Maybe.

Product reviews: Avon Glazewear lip color

I have been wearing Glazewear Liquid Lip Color for about 8 years. Overall, I am very impressed with this lip color. However; what has attracted me most to this product is not the gloss itself, but it's affordable price. The effect is very minimal, but enough to show that the product works. The lip color is more on a gloss wavelength, so it isn't heavy nor is it lightweight, but it does not possess the "stay put" factor nor does it last long term. In fact, expect to re-apply this gloss to your lips, daily, in order for this to actually maintain product visibility and overall moisture.

I've read reviews (both poor and strong) about this product throughout the world wide web and have noticed most women were so interested in the affordable price of this product, they overlooked it's individual weaknesses. They also weren't hesitant to mention the fact that this gloss doesn't have the "stay put" factor, hence why it isn't visible long term. This product is not edible nor flavorful enough to lick your lips and be satisfied with the taste, however; it isn't a repulsive flavor or scent. Honestly, if you overlook the product's disadvantages and look at the price of this gloss, I think that you are getting what you pay for.

This product isn't something I recommend to anyone who is looking for a lip gloss, lip stick combination nor is this product something I recommend to those wanting the "stay put" factor. I also don't recommend this product for anyone who doesn't like the look of glaze on your lips. This product creates a minimal illusion of a glaze-like gloss and minor effect, which is recommended to those who would like a little something extra, but nothing extreme.

Glazewear Liquid Lip Color sells for $6 (with the occasional sale of $2.99) and you can purchase it from your nearest Independent Avon Representative.

Overall, I was impressed with this product. Why? The price speaks enough volumes, but in reality you get what you pay for despite it's flaws and disadvantages. Would I use it again? Most definitely and I already have.

Stress and acne breakouts

Stress is one of the biggest contributions to acne. In fact, if look at some of the primary causes of acne, stress seems to play a minor role in all of those contributions. Whether you are worried that acne is caused by a certain food you ate that night or because you didn't remove your makeup in time or is hereditary, stress continues to build regardless of what bacteria has formed to cause acne.

As someone who had suffered from acne through her teenage years of her life, I can tell you, that stress is a huge factor in contributing to acne.

There are quite a few ways to reduce and relieve stress, however; I believe the best way to reduce and relieve (and possibly overcome) stress is to exercise. If you take care of yourself on a daily basis (good hygiene - clean skin, clean hair, clean teeth, ETC) and eat a balanced diet (Lots of water and good food, but nothing that is too "low carby" or too "sugary") and exercise, you will reduce acne breakouts and possibly get rid of them once and for all.

Good Luck!

Acne and scarring

Acne is one of the most troublesome problems of the skin that develops in any individual. In fact, curing acne can be simple or complicated, as a result. Why? There are quite a few reasons why, but it depends on you. Everyone is differently. Some individuals develop acne because of genetics, some because of stress, and some because of hygiene. As a result of acne, scarring is either likely or unlikely to occur, which depends on you. However; you can prevent scarring and I will tell you why.

As someone who had suffered from acne in her teens, I can tell you, it's something that made me motivated to find out how to get rid of it. The key is good conditioning. This can be everything from great hygiene to a healthy balanced diet/nutrition to a good exercise regime and more.

It is important to keep yourself clean. A regime of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your face, as well as, your entire body. Also, keep in mind that everyone's skin is different, so do NOT hesitate (depending on your skin type) to use "something" once-twice a week. That something can vary from an ex foliating scrub or facial mask to a facial peel or microdermabrasion. It is extremely important to wash your face at least three times daily. If you wear makeup, use a moisturizing makeup remover that won't irritate the skin, but also follow up with a cleansing, toning, and moisturizing regime. You want to also brush your teeth at least five times a day. You want to brush, floss, and rinse daily. After you eat lunch at work, go to the bathroom and rinse out your mouth. If you have a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and rinse with you, that would be better.

It is important to keep yourself hydrated. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. If you don't like water or are an individual who dreads water, drink bottled water. Trust me, I use to hate drinking water, but developed an addiction rather quick. Stay away from sugar drinks and diet drinks. Eat a well balanced breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is best to stay away from foods that have a low carb content, as they tend to make your skin go crazy, but do not avoid them either. Also, don't be afraid to snack throughout the day.

Stress is a contribution to acne, believe it or not. In fact, it's much more major than we realize. It is extremely important to release any stress you have. What is the best way to do that? Exercise! Visit a personal trainer, so they can set you up on a great workout regime. This way, you will have something to follow. You can also do other activities such as walking your dog or rollarblading down the street, and much more, although a nice exercise regime is best because it helps cure stress quick, which will help cure one of the biggest acne contributions.

Now to get rid of scarring, it is best to go into the sun for a few minutes a day. The sun provides quite a few vitamins, believe it or not. If you live in Antarctica or it's extremely cold or raining where you live, go to the nearest tanning salon. Use a good sun screen, but nothing that is too high. Something that is protective enough.

It is also great to visit a sauna at least 5 days a week. If you can get to a place where a sauna is located and get a package, that is better. I've noticed that from swimming and getting into the hot tub, followed by the sauna truly did wonders for my skin. As you lay in the sauna, do not be afraid to apply an acne treatment and moisturizer on your skin.

You want to maintain the regimes, but also don't be afraid to try some natural, healthy ways and means of treating acne, that will help eliminate scarring, as well. One of the best remedies I have tried, was something I developed myself.

Sarah's Acne Treatment

1 cup of Vaseline
1/2 cup of Milk
1/4 cup of Vinegar
1 Egg Yolk
1-2 Aspirin (crushed/smashed)
5 drops of Saline

Combine the vaseline, milk, vinegar, egg yolk, aspirin, and saline together until it forms a paste like substance. Apply to face for about 20-25 minutes. Rinse with warm water, then proceed with cool water.

Warm water opens pours, whereas; cold water closes pours. Always follow with this routine when you wash your face. It is extremely important and believe it or not, will get rid of scarring fast.

As you continue this regime, you will notice results.

Good Luck.

Sunlight's effect on acne

As someone who has suffered from extreme acne during the teenage years of her life, I can tell you that sunlight was more of a friend, than an enemy. Sunlight has a positive effect on acne, as well as, acne scarring and I will you why.

I would break out constantly during my teenage years due to stress and hormonal changes in my life. In fact, I was going through a lot changes, that highly contributed to acne. When exposed to sunlight, I've noticed that my acne would go away and the scars would fade daily. Of course, I did other things, but in my mind, I didn't understand why the sun was actually helpful and beneficial towards my skin.

One evening, I decided to log online and research "Is the sun good for acne?" and found out that when we are exposed to the sun, we are exposed to vitamin D. Vitamin D is very important, as it prevents a variety of illnesses and cancers. What I found out recently is, vitamin D from UV-B Rays some how enters your body and some how transforms into your entire body, effecting all of your organs. This includes everything from your bones to your blood to your liver to even your hormones.

Then it hit me. Hormones are a big contribution to acne. As one of acne's biggest contributions is hormones, I am reluctant to mention that I found my answer as to why the sun and sunlight is good for acne. It is good simply because it releases a vitamin that triumphs all organs and benefits them, including hormones.

I think what makes individuals believe the sun is responsible for acne is the fact, that some individuals, after being exposed to the sun, have clogged pours. This can be for numerous reasons, however; everyone is different and therefore; has different skin/skin type and proneness to acne.

Understanding the various medical treatment options for acne

As a woman who has suffered from acne in her teens, I can tell you that acne is much more serious than people realize. It does not only effect you physically, but mentally, socially, and emotionally. You feel like you wanna self destruct because it isn't something that can go away, right away. Although, I have never went to the dermatologist nor visited any medical professional to be treated for my acne, I've learned to manage it on my own and eventually get rid of it completely.

Regardless of being efficient or effective, treating acne is much more complicated than people realize. However; if you can understand the variety of ways that dermatologists and other medical professionals treat acne and the options available, you can fight acne.

There are a variety of treatments and options for individuals with acne, offered by medical professionals. Some of them include:

1.) LASER TREATMENT or PHOTOTHERAPY - The best way to treat acne is laser treatment skin resurfacing. With the use of radiation, light, and power; lasers are destined to destroy any bacteria on your face, including acne. As you continue, not only will this fight acne, but it will prevent it from coming back and will get rid of scarring. Although it may be costly to some degree, it is worth it, as a result.

2.) BIRTH CONTROL PILLS - As Birth Control Pills are a form of contraception, they also are linked to treating moderate to severe cases of acne. I know this sounds ridiculous, but they really do help. Birth Control Pills are used for individuals (women) and work by targeting those "out of control" hormones that are linked to the cause of acne. Sometimes medical professionals recommend taking them, however; they are not recommended for men, although time can only tell.

3.) ANTIBIOTICS - Whether oral or topical, antibiotics are used to destroy infection and bacteria on a variety of wavelengths. The most common antibiotic used for acne treatment is called Erythromycin, as it is a both oral and topical, however; there are numerous others that are used to treat acne.

4.) ISOTRETINOIN - Isotretinoin is a strong, moderate way of controlling and treating acne. Isotretinoin is mostly used in oral form, although there are creams that possess the powerful ingredient. It is most commonly used for individuals with a severe case of acne. Although it possesses quite a few side effects, the good exceeds the bad, as a result. Some brands of isotretinoin include: Roaccutane, Accutane, Claravis, and Isotrex.

5.) ASPIRIN - Although I have discovered that Aspirin helps on my own, through my own experience, I've heard that some medical professionals recommend using aspirin daily (especially if you suffer from an acute case of acne) and including aspirin in your daily skincare regime.

6.) OTC TOPICAL SOLUTIONS - Some dermatologists and other medical professionals believe that some "over the counter" (OTC) solutions work best to manage and treat acne. This can include everything from Rentin-A to the standard Proactiv regime.

7.) MICRODERMABRASION - Although microdermabrasion is a procedure that is used commonly to resurface the skin and restore youthfulness and glow, it's been said by several professionals that microdermabrasion works amazingly to not only treat acne, but to prevent it from coming back.

8.) EXTRACTION - Whether comedo or surgical, several medical dermatologists and other medical professionals believe this will not only get rid of acne and prevent it from coming back, but find the actual cause so they can prevent it in the future. Most doctors who attempt any extraction use several devices and tools.

9.) SUNLIGHT - Even though some people believe the sun is your enemy, in reality it is your best friend. Some professionals believe that the sun is really good for your skin because as it promotes vitamin D and it's radiation, as well as rays is so powerful, it invades your body like an abyss and helps control hormonal balance, which contributes to acne. Without the help of a medical professional, I've discovered that this does have the potential of working.

10.) CHEMICAL PEELS - These peels are made from a variety of acids and natural ingredients that are linked to fighting acne and battling it, as a whole. It's been said by several professionals that chemical peels not only battle acne, but prevent it from returning.

Plasma resurfacing 101

Do you suffer from discoloration? Do have sun damaged skin? Do you have age spots? How about wrinkles? What about fine lines? If you suffer from any of these problem areas, plasma resurfacing is right for you.

Plasma resurfacing is very much like the laser as it regenerates, as well as, enhances and utilizes the skin. However; plasma resurfacing uses nitrogen gas (to which is ionized) that delivers a heat so powerful, it immediately treats the skin and targets those individual problem areas. Since plasma pulses are controlled, you will not be injured nor infected. In fact, the risk for injury, as well as, infection by plasma resurfacing is extremely low.

Everyone is different, therefore; will have a different reaction to the plasma resurfacing procedure. Some individuals have a down time of 2 days, whereas; others have a down time of 2 months. Everyone is different. One thing is certain, redness is the most common side effect of plasma resurfacing.
