I had the perfect opportunity to interview Ms. Wednesday Loc about a cosmetic brand making many many waves and a huge splash as a result, Cheap Wednesday and here is what she had to say...
Sarah: Tell me a little about Cheap Wednesday cosmetics...
Wednesday: Cheap Wednesday started out as a private social networking site for beauty lovers like myself. A place for people who appreciate all beauty outlets and items from Duane Reade, to Sephors all the up to Suite-Tay. But...it was also a site for artist like my self to chat about the industry and things like that. Finding cheap ways to fill our kits with quality items...Etc Etc . So cheap Wednesday was born. The brand has everything for Hair, Face, Eyes, Lips, and skin. but the kick is members get to pick what the next item is on the line up. All the Makeup is free. Clients just have to pay $5 shipping and handle for the first item, and $2 for each additional item and thats it! . As far as money goes, No membership fees, no points, No minimums, no maximums, no haggle, no nothing, and the items are no frills chic...All you get is simple packaging. It's all about the stuff inside. I made it that way because I had makeup artist in mind. We need the bear minimum in our kits as far as packaging. So fancy Smancy packaging is not really necessary. But, to jazz it up most of the items are a brushed platinum in color.
Sarah: Is your real name Wednesday? How did you come up with the Cheap
Wednesday: Yes, my middle name is Wednesday my Full Name is Tess Wednesday Loc. And...I am very cheap with building my kit. One of my best friends in the world whom is also my mentor is beauty Mogul Taysha Smith Valez. But just Tay Tay to me. She has some of the most Haute items I have ever seen in my life. But try filling a kit with her items! Its close to impossible! You would be spending millions upon millions. I have always been a bit of a cheapy. So Tay started calling me Cheap Wednesday and the name kind of stuck. It's like every once in a "Wednsesday" I'll buy something over the top Haute. But...for the most part I stick to Cheap Wednesday no frills chic items. I have had this brand for about 3 years now. This is the first time I am making it available to consumers. It was a makeup artist only brand when it started. And it still is to a certain extent. I love it! Its a great brand for anyone who wants to fill their it!
Sarah: I am so interested in knowing, what (or who) inspired you to create Cheap Wednesday?
Wednesday: First its because I am cheap ! So Free makeup with $5 S&H per first product and $2 for each additional S&H is right up my alley! You can really fill a kit with prices like that. 2. Because of the business I am in I am around really really wealthy and powerful gals. I am not talking just entertainers and singers, I am talking about Writers, CEO's , Entrepernuers, Politicians, Producers, etc. And as these women are, they are sent Free Gratis all the time. For example: Taysha owns everything under the sun and people still send her FREE MAKEUP. So I said Let me name this social networking site "RIch People Get free makeup SO should you!". It's because it true...That's why all the client ever pays for is shipping and Handle and even that is CHEAP!. I focus on product and product only. I focus on building looks, and suggesting other brands, and figuring out what is the best in beauty for the individual client. We share beauty tips and things. And...if I have a product that solves a problem we (meaning members of the site) vote on it and we sell it. One week it could be mascara and the next it could be shampoo. It all depends on the mood of the network.
Sarah: What are some products you recommend the most by Cheap Wednesday?
Wednesday: The mascara with Keratin, the lip plumpers, the liquid liner, the eyecream, the makeup remover, the lip crayons, the gel liners, so many things...I could on and on...the loose mineral eyeshadows. *laughing*.
Sarah: Based on a certain marketing target or demographic, what type of individuals are most likely to be attracted to Cheap Wednesday?
Wednesday: People who are cheap *laughing*, people who like to try a bunch of stuff on the cheap, people who like to share tips and tricks. We have a section on the site were members can upload videos of makeup tips and tricks. and how toos, And...they don't have to use Cheap weds products...we would love them too, but they dont have too.
Sarah: For those who have yet to know about Cheap Wednesday, what do you wanna say to those people?
Wednesday: Hi my name is Wednesday Loc, come on over sign up for my beauty social networking site, we dont spam with tacky emails, we dont sell your email addys to anyone. We just talk makeup. And its free to sign up. The Makeup is always free and the shipping and handle is always CHEAP!

Wednesday: Please don't comapre us to that "dollar" brand out there...Our items are high quality, very nice, the only difference between us and other prestige brands is no fancy packaging, just great professional grade product. Imagine a beauty company influenced and inspired by Persian culture. I had the perfect opportunity to speak to CEO Taysha Smith Valez about the amazingly fluent Persian influenced, as well as, Persian inspired company making many waves, Golpari and this is what she had to tell me...
Sarah: Salam Tay. Hale shoma chetor ast? Roozegar chetor migozarad? Omidvaram rooze khoobi dashte bashid. Tell me a little about Golpari...
Taysha: Well...as you know, my life is full of culture. Dinner with my friends and family, resembles the United Nations. *laughing* As an American Super Luxury group CEO, I had to create something for everyone. TSV-H.B.G group (merger of Hcouture and a few other companies to form one group) is in the business of celebrating all cultures that are represented in America, most importantly among my friends, I have a brand that represents all of my friends. It's a museum of brands ya know, Golpari is a wonderful brand and the creative behind the brand is my friend Lila . She's awesome, beautiful, and Persian American. Lila, born and raised in America, yet her family culture is that of Iranian American. She speaks Farsi and she shares the richness of her culture with us all the time. We realized that there is not one brand that celebrates the richness and unforgettable beauty of Persian Americans. So...I created Golpari. I have brands that celebrate the Black American princess, the Japanese American princess, the Russian American princess, the Latin American princess, the French American princess, so why not Persian American. Tons of culture, tons of things to learn and understand, tons of things to appreciate and to admire. And...what better way to do it then through beauty. And...most importantly Lila, one of my best friends ever, the Beverly Hills Persian American princess herself, asked me too!
Sarah: Motahayyeram..what made you come up with such a brilliant concept?
Taysha: Lila played a huge part. Most importantly...Why NOT?! The world has so much to gain from it! More beauty to go around!
Sarah: With every great influencial individual, such as yourself, a source of inspiration follows, as a result. I, as well as, many others are curious, what was the big source of inspiration for Golpari?
Taysha: Celebrating something so beautiful that most don't even know exists. It's as simple as that. Again, most importantly, Lila, one of my best friends ever, the Beverly Hills Persian American princess herself asked me too *Laughing*
Sarah: Man asheghe Irani hastam! Motahayyeram...what are your thoughts on the Persian culture?
Taysha: Well, as you know I speak 3 languages and I am working on my Farsi. I think the Persian Culture in America is very rich, yet undervalued and misinterpretted to a certain extent. I think people have a habit of mushing everyone together and not giving culturally rich groups a chance to really express their richness and individuality outside of their own culture. In such a wonderful country like America, we often struggle with maintaining our sense of culture while maintaining what being "AMERICAN" is. But...being American is just that maintaining your culture and sharing it with other cultures on a museum level. That's what I do with my beauty brands and that's what goes on in my daily life. I treat each brand as a MUSEUM, a place where everyone can learn and ooo and ahh over things they never knew existed. On a grand level of course. I don't cheapin anyone's culture. Ya know? Thats why the prices are so pricey! And...in a nutshell I made these brands for my friends and my clients...it's as simple as that. It comes from a very pure place, known as my heart :)
Sarah: Have you ever been to the Middle East? Have you ever visited Iran?
Taysha: No, I have never been to Iran or the Middle East. I have been to Turkey, however; on some maps Istanbaul is considered Euro/Asia. However; my friend Lila is from Bel Air, California and her family is prominent in the Beverly Hills area of California. It's a very Persian American rich area. Some of the most beautiful people I have ever seen in my life! I am like wow. I can bottle you guys up! Now teach me some FARSI!
Sarah: Golpari sounds absolutely amazing. It truly does. Now I must ask, demographically speaking, what types of individuals can purchase Golpari products or better yet,what type of people are expected to be attracted to this amazingly fluent, Persian inspired company?
Taysha: Anyone who appreciates haute, fine things. Just like my dinner table feels like the United Nations, so will my porfolio of brands as the years go on. People need to learn to celebrate and find beauty in other people's cultures without watering them down or trying to mush them into their own. That's the real cachet of being American. Sarah: As an Iranian-American, I feel compelled to state that this is truly an outstanding concept. I am curious to know about some of the Golpari products. What are some Golpari products you recommend? Tell me a little more about Golpari products...

Sarah: Is gold good for the skin? I heard it was good for your skin. Tell me how gold is good for the skin...
Taysha: Well Sarah...you can do your own research on the benefits of gold, because I am not a chemist or a doctor *laughing* but...YES, it is. It's an antioxident and a sealer (as far as hair goes) so it's strong , it smoothes, as well as, plumps, and seals. The glow hair wise, lip wise, and skin wise is unmatchable. But...those Gold and Diamond earrings that come with it are even better for your skin...well, at least the permanent glow from happiness is... (smiling)
Sarah: Is it true that Golpari is vegetarian/vegan friendly? As a vegetarian, I find this extremely bank. I am sure many vegetarians/vegans are wanting to know more, as well as, myself. Tell me
Taysha: YES...everything is mixed, packaged, and stored in separate labs from the other brands. Nothing is animal tested, all of the makeup is mineral. The packaging is all high grade, man made, glazed materials. Very high end. And...the Diamonds...OOO YES the diamonds that come with the concierge are all conflict free.
