Top 10 Best Drugstore Mascaras of 2012

Mascara is the ultimate beauty essential. Out of the many makeup basics, mascara reigns supreme as being a top 10 must-have. Recently, I have had the pleasure of trying numerous mascaras. Everything from high end to mid end to low end. What I have realized is that some of the best mascaras I have used are drug store mascaras, so I have decided to narrow down the many drug store mascaras to only the top 10 best of 2012.

10. Almay’s Intense i-Color Mascara. Not only is this mascara pigmented, but you can build color to achieve your desired look. It doesn’t clump nor does it dry out, making it a mascara you are destined to appreciate. I like this mascara because it delivers great results with minimal effort. It is very easy to apply, as well. To think that this mascara is one of the best drug store mascaras of 2012 and it is under $5.

9. Jordana’s Best Lash Voluminizing Mascara. Selecting a decent mascara is one thing, but actually using a great one is another. I am not one who likes to use “cheap” products because you are kind of playing a risky game of “What if?” The reality is though, despite using high-end mascara, I have discovered that some drug store mascaras are simply amazing and might I add that this mascara is no exception. It is not only long-lasting, but extremely pigmented, producing a fantastic color pay-off. You can build color and your lashes won’t dry out. This mascara does not clump, which is another quality to admire.

8. Wet n’ Wild’s Mega Length Mascara. When I first used this mascara, I have to admit that I found it hard to believe that I was using $3 mascara. It is a fabulous mascara. The results are simply unbelievable for a drug store mascara. Not only does this great addition to Wet n’ Wild thicken lashes, but the volume result is instantaneous. Your lashes are instantly lifted. It is clump-free, making it an even more amazing mascara.

7. Iman’s Perfect Mascara. This mascara not only thickens and lengthens lashes, but provides you with instant volume. The brush is medium to large, giving you only trouble-free application. What I love most about this mascara is the fact that it dries quickly, but doesn’t shrivel up. It is clump free, so there is zero smudging or flaking. It’s quite pigmented, so the color pay-off is great. If you are searching for a mascara that gives you everything you want for just $7, this is the mascara for you.

6. Rimmel’s Maxx Volume Flash Mascara. One thing to love and appreciate about mascara is the fact that it enhances your eyelashes, improving them by the naturally visible eye. If you are searching for a drug store mascara that proves why it is fantastic, this wonderful addition to Rimmel is definitely the one. The brush is big, making the application incredibly easy to apply. The formula is pigmented, generating a exceptional result. For under $6, this mascara definitely proves why it is one of the best of 2012.

5. Cover Girl’s Lashblast Fusion Mascara. One thing I love most about this mascara is the fact that it is pigmented, producing a color pay-off that is amazingly chic. If you want to build this mascara onto your lashes, your lashes look more refined and this product doesn’t dry out and flake nor smudge and make a mess. Not only is this mascara easy to apply, it is easy to remove, making it a true mascara must-have. Just under $8. Discover one of the best mascaras of 2012 and use it today.

4. Revlon’s Doubletwist Voluminizing Mascara. When it comes to delivering results, this amazing addition by Revlon does just that. If you are looking for a mascara that applies evenly, while adding volume as a result, you are going to love this mascara. One thing to love most about this mascara is the fact that it does not clump nor does it dry out. One of the things that I hate is mascara that dries out and creates a weird “tar like” build up near the cap. Looking for an amazing mascara? This is definitely the one.

3. Milani’s Power Voluminizing Mascara. Mascara is as unique and interesting as the individual that wears it on a daily basis. One of the best qualities about this particular mascara is the fact that it is very pigmented. The color pay-off created is incredible for a drug store mascara. It doesn’t clump nor does it flake. When I applied this mascara, it lasted relatively long. The application is quite simple and the brush that is used to apply the formula is amazing, as it is clearly one of the bigger brushes I have used. I seriously forgot that I was using a mascara under $6. I absolutely love this mascara and I guarantee that you will love it too.

2. Maybelline’s Illegal Length Mascara. Although some people do not classify this as an actual mascara, it is definitely a mascara, as it is pigmented and delivers true benefits that a mascara normally would. Whether you are looking for a specific result, such as lengthening or voluminizing, etc you are destined to find it with this incredible mascara. The results achieved are outstanding and on the same wavelength as a lot of high-end products. Plus, this mascara is long-lasting and delivers a lot of great qualities. For under $7, this mascara is truly a force to be reckoned with. Need I say more?

…and the number one mascara of 2012 is…

*drum roll*

1. Maybelline’s Great Lash Big Washable Mascara. Out of the many mascaras I have tried, this mascara is definitely one of the best mascaras I have used. Using this mascara provided me with results, as if I were using a high-end mascara. The application is simple. The color is pigmented. The pay-off is outstanding. It doesn’t flake nor does it smudge. It does not clump. It is relatively long-lasting and easy to remove. For less than $5, this should definitely be in your beauty bag right now, as it is the best drug store mascara of 2012.

MAC Lipsticks: Kinda Sexy

Kinda Sexy looks very midtone when you first get it; however, it's application is relatively light. I found the lipstick to be a warm pink nude matte. I am an NC42. If you are lighter, like an NC15 or 20, this lipstick will appear a little darker. You can blot it. To make the shade the type of color you want. If you are darker like NW 50 or 55, this lipstick will appear much lighter. You can; however, build color to make it look visibly appealing.

The thing I love most about Mac's lipsticks is the fact that they are incredibly nourishing and the hydration hits your lips instantly. They are pigmented, so you can build color. I also love the idea that Mac lipsticks have a light vanilla scent to them and don't smell like weird elements and/or chemicals. That is a very important factor when purchasing any lip product.

Out of the many Mac lipsticks I have tested and bought, this is one of the most flexible shades, meaning whether you are an NW20 or an NC55, it will look good on you. It is also an "appropriate" lipstick (not that there is anything wrong with wearing amazingly intense and diversified colors, because I love wearing them), which makes it wearable through the day, as well as, night. If you intend to have dinner with family or spend your days 9-to-5 working your ususal shift, this lipstick works for all occasions.

Tanning Lotion Reviews: Love Notes by Love DS (Designer Skin)

When it comes to tanning lotions, I have to admit that if I had to choose a favorite tanning lotion brand, my favorite brand would be Designer Skin. Recently, I had the opportunity to discover Designer Skin’s latest line “Love DS” which is one of the newest tanning lines by the popular tanning lotion brand. After contemplating and debating what tanning lotion to use, a short time ago, when visiting my local tanning salon, I had the opportunity to try Love Notes Lovely Hydrating Intensifier by Designer Skin. So, what did I think?

When I first used this lotion, I honestly didn’t think it was an intensifier. I just thought it was a tanning lotion without bronzer. Love Notes Lovely Hydrating Intensifier by Designer Skin makes you forget that you are using an intensifier, as it makes you feel like you are using an actual tanning lotion without bronzer.

This tanning lotion product is fortified with actual sea minerals. The ingredients in this tanning lotion product are more natural, but you can smell some synthetic ingredients in it. Based on the ratio of natural to synthetic, this lotion is very much appreciated.

In comparison to other tanning lotions that are often described or dubbed intensifiers, this tanning lotion ranks high when it comes to it's ability to deliver hydration. If you are in search of a tanning lotion that keeps your skin not only moisturized, but hydrated, you are going to truly love this addition to the Designer Skin brand.

Designer Skin described the fragrance of Love Notes Lovely Hydrating Intensifier to have a fresh picked daisy smell. I have to admit that the scent of this lotion reminds me fresh floral. The floral fragrance in this lotion also has a light hint of citrus, but not much. If you are into floral scents, you will love Love Notes Lovely Hydrating Intensifier by Designer Skin.

Not everyone likes nor do they love intensifiers. In fact, there are many people who do not care for them. If you are one of those people, you will not appreciate this tanning lotion product as it is more of an intensifier as it is a lotion.

If you are searching for a tanning lotion with a bronzer, more than likely you will not want to purchase this one. If there is, in fact, any bronzer in this lotion, it is truly non existent.

A lot of people think that the scent of a tanning lotion is the most important quality of the tanning lotion. Could you stand to use a product that smelled terrible? I don’t think this smells terrible, but if you are not into synthetic floral, you may not find Love Notes Lovely Hydrating Intensifier by Designer Skin appealing.

RATING - 76%

You can purchase Love Notes Lovely Hydrating Intensifier by Designer Skin at your nearest tanning salon or wherever Designer Skin products are sold for $39.99. Would I use this tanning lotion again? Considering Designer Skin produces may lotions superior to this, I would say no. Would I recommend this tanning lotion to a friend? To be honest, more than likely no. This lotion isn't horrible, but in comparison to other Designer Skin lotions, it is very average and lacks the ability to deliver tried and true results. If I would recommend this lotion, it would be to those that are looking for a lotion that is subtle.

Top 10 inexpensive makeup dupes for Mac's eyeshadow "Carbon"

Mac’s Eye Shadow in Carbon is typically an intense matte black shade. In case you are new to finishes and need a little education in eye shadow finishes 101, matte simply means just flat color with no shimmer or frost. There is absolutely no glitter, no sparkle, no effects, etc. When something is matte, it possesses individual color with nothing added.

In the makeup world, the word “dupe” simply stands for “alternative”. Although the word “dupe” is often defined as “deceit” or in short, a way to simply “trick” someone, it is possible to be wearing a dupe eye shadow and “duping” others into believing that the eye shadow is an original and not a substitute. Although dupes are not always inexpensive, they were created with the budget conscious shopper and makeup user in mind. Mac eye shadows tend to retail for $15 each and it is a well known fact that the vast majority of status quo society doesn’t have the financial means to afford these high-end eye shadows all of the time.

When searching for a great eye shadow, there are many qualities to look for. The same goes for any makeup dupe. To save you the time and the trouble of spending hours upon hours trying to look for the latest makeup dupe, here are the top 10 inexpensive dupes for the Mac Eye Shadow Carbon.
