Makeup Looks: New Year's Eve
When it comes to beauty, there are simply no limits. Why? Because every woman is
beautiful. Whether you choose to get your makeup done professionally or you
simply want to do it yourself, there are endless looks you can create for every
occasion. The key is creating something that makes a statement, something
wearable, and something memorable.
Today, I will demonstrate why you don't have to spend
a fortune getting your makeup done professionally; to create an amazing New
Year's Eve inspired makeup look and how it is possible. Are you ready? Let's get
started!
FACE
First and foremost, you want to begin by applying your
face products. Since you are going to be out and about, you want to use a
foundation primer. My favorite is Yves Saint Laurent's Matt Touch Primer.
For this particular NYE inspired makeup look, I used
Mac's Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NC42 followed by Mac's Select Cover
Concealer in NC42. You want to use a setting powder for this particular look.
For the New Year's Eve inspired makeup look, I decided to use Laura Mercier's
Pressed Setting Powder.
For Blush, you are going to want something more warm
yet neutral. At least for this look. I love NARS blushes, so for the NYE
inspired makeup look, I decided to go with "Lovejoy" by NARS.
EYES
Whenever I apply my makeup, I like to do my eyebrows
first. You want your eyebrows to look natural and one of the best products for
the brows that I have discovered is Benefit's Brow Zings. Depending on your skin
tone and actual brow color, you want to use the appropriate shade for you. I
decided to go with Benefit's Brow Zings in Medium.
After contemplating and debating whether to use an
eyeshadow primer or an actual eyeshadow base, I decided to go with Urban Decay's
Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Greed. Greed is more of a subtle yet vibrant gold
shimmer.
I like to apply eyeshadow before my eyeliner, as it
tends to show up better. For this particular look, you want your eyes to be
simple yet dramatic. After deciding on what eyeshadow I wanted to use, I went
with Lancôme's Color Design Eyeshadow in Couture. Couture is a matte brown that
possesses more of a cool undertone rather than a warm.
Using a Mac 215 brush, you want to apply this
eyeshadow all over the lid. Keep in mind that if you do not own this particular
makeup brush, there are various dupes that you can find. Then, you want to take
it a little past the crease towards the outer ends. Blend and then re-apply to
create a more pigmented yet pronounced finish.
The highlight should be natural, yet visible. Out of
the many eyeshadows I own, I decided to go with Lancôme's Color Design Eyeshadow
in Filigree. If you can imagine a peach beige shimmer, this would be the result.
Once completed, you want to start with the liner. For
this particular look, I went with Mac's Fluidline in Blitz & Glitz. I, then,
lined my waterline with Mac's Eye Kohl in Smolder. I decided to tight line (line
the above waterline) as well.
Recently, I have garnered a huge appreciation for
mascara primer. I decided to go with Estee Lauder's Lash Primer Plus followed by
my mascara, Dior's Diorshow Mascara in Black 090. You want to use mascara that
is black for this look, simply because you used brown. The black mascara
completes the eye look.
LIPS
The lips should be natural, but not pasty. They should
also be neutral. You don't want to draw attention to just your eyes. For this
look, I went with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Belle de Jour.
To complete the list, I went with Illamasqua's
Lipstick in Sonnet. The color is natural yet has a rosy tone to it that really
brings this look together.
Congratulations! You have just completed my New Year's
Eve Inspired Makeup look. Happy New Year!
